Company Description
Bodycote Teesside (formerly MTS Teesside) began trading in February 1987 with the acquisition of the ITM/Head Wrightson laboratory site at Trafalgar Street in Stockton.
Within one year of opening the laboratory was the market leader for the provision of rapid and professional materials testing services. In July 1991 the business relocated to it's present site at Riverside Park in Middlesbrough. A purpose built laboratory of 10,000 sq.ft. centrally located within easy reach of the A66 and A19 road systems.
Bodycote continues to invest heavily in capital equipment for both specimen preparation and testing, making Bodycote Teesside the most well equipped laboratory in the North East of England.
The Teesside laboratory is a centre of excellence within Bodycote for analytical services. The chemical analysis laboratory is equipped with new analytical instruments including ICP, Glow Discharge-OES, Graphite AA and other equipment. The laboratory regularly analyses materials for aerospace, oil & gas and fine chemical industries.
In addition, the laboratory has long been a centre of excellence for fracture toughness testing (CTOD, KIC), regularly undertaking large programmes for the local oil & gas fabrication clients in particular.
Metallurgical failure analysis has long been a Teesside service in support of plant failures, litigation, insurance claims and reverse engineering. A Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)and a range of light microscopes are available to the laboratories experienced materials scientists.
A well equipped workshop and test room enable the laboratory to process large volumes of mechanical tests in short periods, with the automatic emailing of test certification now a standard service feature.
