SIMDEAN, founded more than 25 years ago, is a specialist organisation in air and water pollution control.
Its earliest activities were the manufacture of process equipment in corrosion resistant materials and through contacts made in the water treatment industry sewage sludge treatment, and for its own requirements it developed air deodourising and process gas absorption processes.
The first deodourising installations were located at sewage works where sludge treatment produced unpleasant odours to both staff and local residents. Techniques then employed were:
Incineration for process gases containing odoriferous substances at high concentrations.
Absorption on activated carbon for air containing medium concentrations of odoriferous substances. Results obtained are limited because of the difficulty in finding a suitable carbon to absorb the wide range of different chemical groups producing odours.
Though these techniques remain "effective" in their field of application, running costs become prohibitive for large air volumes.
In order to solve the general problems of odour removal and air pollution, SIMDEAN has developed a more efficient scrubbing system. This scrubber is a counter-current gas/liquid contactor simultaneously effecting absorption, dust removal and cooling.
The Multivent scrubber which is a development from the older Simdean Multicell unit has greater efficiencies and lower operating costs than comparable units. With over 300 units in the field to date, we are uniquely placed to answer your gas and odour scrubbing problems.
With Manufacturing facilities in the UK, Spain and the USA, Simdean are more than capable of global solutions in the Air Pollution field.
In addition to our activities in the air pollution field, we have extensive experience in the provision of custom built corrosion resistant plant and equipment.
